1978 - 1979

In 1978 the Archbishop Rummel student body had an election to name Rufus' horse. After reviewing hundreds of names, the students finally selected "Rumpus" as the name of Rufus' horse.

The Rummel Raiders played in the last game at Tulane Stadium on November 1, 1979 against Del La Salle.  The last point ever scored in the stadium was by Rummel placekicker Gary Boudreaux.  Tulane Stadium was demolished in 1980.

Greg Stacy (167 pounds) and Mike Dale (185 pounds) won the LHSAA Division I State High School Wrestling Championship.  Thad Elmer (98 pounds) placed 4th and Tim Malone was the Heavyweight 5th Place winner.
