1973 - 1974

Football

Al Pontiff joined the football coaching staff in 1973 and would remain at Rummel until 1982.

The baseball team won the District Prep Championship and went on to take the Louisiana Class AAAA state championship under coach Larry Schneider.  Star players included Rickey Zibilich, Dom Giambrone, Jim Kropog, Matt Bullinger, and Kenny Francingues.

Dennis Dale (185 pounds) won the LHSAA Division I State High School Wrestling Championship.  In the Louisiana State Wrestling Tournament the team took home the Third Place trophy.  Other individual honors went to Ben Toledano 98 pound State Runner-Up, Bill Cloutet 132 pounds 5th Place, Ken Masset 138 pound State Runner-Up, Lou Martello 145 pounds 4th Place, Paul Thompson 155 pounds 4th Place, and David Livadais 167 pounds 3rd Place.

 

The Genesian Players produced Of Mice And Men andCheaper By The Dozen as well as the one act plays Answers, Sorry, Wrong Number, Switched At The Crossroads, S'gnarelle, The Lottery, and Love's Triangle during the academic year.
