1700s - Sugar
1750s - Creole cane sugar is cultivated. 1795 -- Étienne de Boré develops a new refining process using sugar cane. Former indigo plantations begin sugar cultivation. 1797 - Exiles from Saint-Domingue introduce a more successful variety of sugar.
